Summer Mailing Packet July 2023

Dear Christ Lutheran Community, Summer Greetings!

Grace and peace to you from our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! As we look forward to the beginning of this new school year, we rejoice in our gracious God’s faithfulness, provision, and abundant blessings!

Our theme for this year is “GROWING TOGETHER IN CHRIST”, based on the theme verse for this year: “I am the Vine; you are the branches. If you remain in Me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from Me you can do nothing.” John 15:5

The summer mailing packet that accompanies this letter provides you with important information that will help you and your children prepare for the start of the school year.  Please especially read and review the Parent Handbook that will be emailed to you in a separate mailing at the end of July. We require that you sign and return the enclosed “Parent Handbook Confirmation” page for our records.

We will begin the year with an All-Family Orientation in which both returning and new Christ Lutheran parents are asked to meet in the sanctuary from 6:00 – 7:00 PM on Thursday, August 24. Important information about policies, procedures, and programs will be provided and explained.

Please note that Kindergarten Parents will have a separate orientation meeting from 6:00 – 7:00 PM on Wednesday, August 23. At 6 PM on Wednesday, August 30th, Christ Lutheran Church and School will host a Blessing of the Backpacks service project event. All who attend will have the opportunity to meet our teachers who will also be participating and attending. (Classrooms will not be open on that evening.)  Please stay tuned for further details from our DCE Tasha Mahshi who is coordinating this service project to provide backpacks and school supplies to students in need in our local community.

The first day of school is Wednesday, September 6th. Doors will open at 8:15 AM, and our amazing PTL (Parent-Teacher League) will be providing a breakfast for parents in the gym starting at 8:30 AM. Parents are welcome to join us for our opening chapel starting at 9:30 AM. Students are expected to be in dress code for the first day of school and the days thereafter.

Dismissal on the first day of school is at 12:00 PM. Students in K-4 should be picked up at the church steps area, while students in Grades 5-8 should be picked up by the north gate. This year, K-4 will proceed to the church and be seated at dismissal time. You may pull up to the church steps curb for staff to escort your student to the car, or you can park your car and wait at the church steps for a staff member to bring your child to the church door for check-out.

On regular school days, students may enter via the glass church doors or the north gate at 8:15 AM, and should promptly proceed to their classrooms. Students who arrive after 8:30 are tardy, and must go to the office to receive a tardy slip before proceeding to their classrooms. K-4 students are dismissed at 3:05 PM and depart upon pick-up from the church steps. Students in grades 5-8 are dismissed at 3:15 PM and are picked up at the north gate.

On Tuesdays, K-4 dismissal/pick-up is at 2:05 PM on the church steps.  5th-8th grade dismissal/pick-up is at 2:15 PM by the north gate. This provides teachers with the necessary time to meet together on Tuesdays for professional development and strategic planning.

There are forms that we kindly ask you to complete and submit before the beginning of the school year. Please go to our website:  school.christrpv.com. Scroll down and click on “Forms and Documents”. You should see various forms on the green sidebar. Please fill out and submit the “Student Emergency Form”, the “Permission for Use of Pictures”, the “Raise Right (Scrip) Program”, and if necessary– the “Medication Form”. Please also fill out and submit the “Statement of Faith” Document. Each parent and guardian must sign and return a hard copy of the Christ Lutheran Parental Partnership Covenant Agreement.

Students are welcome to bring their own lunch to school. We also provide hot lunch options which can be ordered in advance online. For security reasons, we do not allow outside delivery services such as Uber Eats and Door Dash to deliver lunch to campus. If you plan to drop off a lunch for your child, you must bring it to the school office, and staff will ensure it is delivered to your child. Taking the lunch directly to your child’s classroom is not permitted. The school supply list is also located on the green sidebar.

Please see what supplies are needed for 1st-8th grades. (You will not see a supply list for Kindergarten because supplies are provided by the school for that grade level.) Please especially note the updated middle school supplies list.

If necessary, there is a “Medication Form” on the website. Please fill this out if there are any chronic or acute conditions that require medications. If necessary, Christ Lutheran staff will administer medications based on the instructions from the pharmacist. Christ Lutheran does not have any over the counter medications available for students. If there is a need, parents are welcome to fill out a “Medication Form” and provide these medications for their student(s). Every parent is welcome to be a part of our Parent Teacher League (PTL). Christ Lutheran is blessed in countless ways through you, our amazing parents, who donate time, talents, and treasures in support of programs and projects throughout the year.

Christ Lutheran School is a ministry of Christ Lutheran Church. If you do not have a church home, we welcome you to join us on Sundays! We have Bible studies for children and for adults at 9:00 AM. Our worship service is at 10:30 AM. Our DCE Tasha Mahshi offers and is expanding our youth programs.  Please stay tuned for further details as they become available.

You are being lifted up in my prayers throughout this summer and will continue to be in the new school year. Throughout this school year, you and your children will have opportunities to meet with me so I can personally pray with you and for you. May the Lord bless and keep you this summer and always.

In Christ’s love and service, Charlene Soon
