Sarah Turnbull

K – 8th Art Teacher

Sarah Turnbull

My name is Sarah Turnbull. I grew up all across the United States as an Air Force child and then married a military man who recently transferred to the Space Force. This has resulted in 21 moves in my life! My oldest two children (19, 16) are graduates of Christ Lutheran and my youngest will be entering sixth grade at CLS this year. We enjoy cooking, exploring, visiting museums, crafting, and reading books together.

I have a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education with an emphasis in Early Childhood and have taught preschool, third grade, and first grade as well as had prior experience being a Children’s Ministry Director, Art to Grow On docent, children’s editor for small publication, and K-8 substitute teacher. After stepping down from teaching first grade at Christ Lutheran to care for my family during COVID on-line schooling, I am looking forward to stepping back in to the classroom as the CLS art teacher.

I am excited to teach each grade once a week in our very own art room on campus. In addition to introducing the students to the elements of art, the principles of design, different tools and mediums, and a variety of both past and contemporary artists, I desire to help them become more confident in their own abilities, to become more aware and appreciative of the beauty found around them, and to stir in them the desire to create and use their imaginations. CLS strives to nurture each student spiritually, academically, athletically, and musically and developing an art program will provide one more way to reach students and grow their interests and abilities.

I am privileged to join the Christ Lutheran community where learning about and creating art can be one more way of worshipping the Master Artist.
